In 1997, Westminster Towers became the first retirement campus in South Carolina to be accredited by the National Continuing Care Accreditation Commission. Our mission is to provide services that inspire, encourage, and empower seniors while demonstrating the love of Christ to support individual well-being.

Today, our community offers 131 Independent Living apartment homes, 45 Assisted Living suites, 11 Medicare Certified Short Term Rehabilitation rooms, and 33 Long Term Care rooms. In 2008, HomeBridge, an extension of the ministry of Westminster Towers was founded, providing non-medical caregiver services to Westminster Towers residents and the community.

In 2008, we opened HomeBridge, a division that provides supportive services to clients in the community at large and across campus… at one’s address of choice.

We are searching for individuals who will provide quality, compassionate care to the seniors we serve. The successful candidate will work well within the interdisciplinary team, and will help to create a comfortable and positive environment for our seniors and their families.

Tasks:

  • Provide guidance to LPNs and CNAs
  • Administer medications, provide vaccinations, and render treatment to senior adults.
  • Communicate with physicians, CNAs, and other nurses regarding resident care.

Provides care for residents which require a skilled level of personal attention in the
Health Center. This care will include all activities of daily living, ambulation, and emotional assistance and support.

Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service policies and procedures.

Identify special resident problems and report them immediately to Charge Nurse.
Provide direct resident care as assigned.

Conduct resident rounds every two hours and more often as needed.

Identify safety hazards and emergency situations and initiate corrective action.

Assume accountability for compliance with federal, state and local regulations within the unit assigned and within his/her span of control.

Life Enrichment Manager

The Life Enrichment Manager should have experience planning and executing sophisticated and stimulating activities for senior adults. They must be caring, compassionate, and always provide excellent customer service. Above all else, the Manager of Life Enrichment must have an unparalleled passion for service and display a commitment to excellence that represents and supports the Westminster Towers mission, vision, and values.

Position responsibilities:

Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Life Enrichment Department in accordance with regulations, established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Director of Resident Services. To ensure that the on-going Activities and Wellness Programs are designed to meet the individual interests and encourage the physical, mental and psycho-social well-being of each resident, as well as promote the philosophy of wellness to clients, staff, and the community at large. Also responsible for supervising the Volunteer Program and Transportation.

Independent Living Activities Coordinator

Primary Function

Responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the Independent Living Activities Program, in accordance with regulations, established policies and procedures and as may be directed by the Director of Life Enrichment. To ensure that the on-going activities programs are designed to meet the individual interests of and promote the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.

Nature & Scope:

  • Directly plan, coordinate, and implement a calendar of life enriching programs/events for Independent Living residents.
  • Create and print the monthly activity calendars and other printed advertisement of events and programs.
  • Establish affiliations with local schools, churches, universities to engage community members in programming including Lifelong Learning lectures, musical performances, resident volunteer opportunities, internships, etc.
  • Promote strong intergenerational component.
  • Include evening, weekend and holiday programming.
  • Provide programming that includes a combination of off-campus and on-campus activity opportunities.
  • Plan programming that encourages strong community involvement, corporate sponsorships, fundraising opportunities, and positive media coverage.
  • Encourage resident involvement in planning and implementing programming through IL Activities Committee.
  • Develop a working knowledge of applicable regulations and stay updated on regulatory changes.
  • Participate in meetings as required: weekly Life Enrichment planning, monthly Resident Review, quarterly department etc.
  • Oversee the decorating of Independent Living for various holidays and special events.
  • Purchase all equipment/supplies necessary for programs provided and maintain expense/revenue documentation.
  • Evaluate IL Life Enrichment program through QAPI process and annual IL Activities survey.
  • Organize two fundraising events campus events per year to benefit the Life Enrichment Department.
  • Plan the annual Anniversary Celebration.
  • Serve as back-up bus driver when bus driver is not available.
  • Provide training to volunteers on specific topics/assignments.
  • Assist with special events/programs in other levels of care.
  • Write articles and provide photographs for monthly Windows Newsletter as appropriate.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Take part in in-service education and attend all in-service sessions that would be relevant to the Life Enrichment Department.
  • Always observe Resident’s Rights policies.
  • Observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
  • Must observe and maintain all privacy rules and regulations pertaining to Resident Rights and Health Insurance Probability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Observe all infection control policies and procedures.
  • Must complete an annual mandatory HIPAA training session.
  • Attend all mandatory training as directed.
  • Ability to represent the Westminster Towers values with consistency: Integrity, Respect, Excellence, and Enrichment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties.
  • Adheres to the Organizations Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns.
  • Follows all local, state, and federal regulations as they pertain to their position.
  • Adheres to the Organization’s Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in Compliance with HIPAA regulations.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Social Sciences, Gerontology, Fitness/Wellness, or other healthcare related field, or at least 3 years of experience providing activities in an Independent Living environment.
  • Possess, or able to obtain, national credential through NAAPCC or NCCAP.
  • Possess a varied background of skills/talents/interests: performing arts, arts & crafts, fitness/wellness, music, creative writing etc.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule – including some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Maintain a positive, upbeat attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Possess an outgoing personality, compassion, and ability to build trusting relationships with residents, family members and other employees.
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess a clean driver’s license and ability to drive facility 14 passenger bus.

Long Term Care Activities Coordinator

The Activities Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the planning and coordination of the Skilled Living and Long-Term Living programs of therapeutic and recreational activities, including those that provide physical, social, spiritual, intellectual, and emotional stimulation.

Essential Functions

  1. Plan, schedule and implement an ongoing program of individual and group activities based on residents’ interests and needs, including weekend and evening activities.
  2. Complete assessment of resident’s activity needs within 5 days of admission and re-assess on an annual basis, or as frequently as required by state and federal regulations.
  3. Identify and document in the resident’s care plan their individual interests, needs, and problems. Progress notes and care planning updates will be completed every 6 months, or as condition changes.
  4. Report changes in residents’ conditions to nursing staff and make therapy referrals when necessary
  5. Document all interaction with resident and/or family in the assessment and care plan as required by regulatory standards.
  6. Ability to act as an active member of the interdisciplinary team and required to attend all resident care conferences.
  7. Plan and conduct Residents Council meetings at least monthly.
  8. Request volunteers as needed and supervise volunteers while with residents.
  9. Organize and schedule community events and outings related to residents’ interests.
  10. Plan, schedule and implement room visits and in-room activities as needed.
  11. Maintain an attendance record for each resident present for a group activity.
  12. Observe infection control procedures.
  13. Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.
  14. Attend all mandatory in-service programs as directed.
  15. Take part in in-service education and attend all in-service sessions relating to Life Enrichment.
  16. Assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned.
  18. Observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
  19. Observe Resident’s Rights policies at all times.
  20. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents or unauthorized disclosure of such information.

Must complete an annual mandatory HIPAA training session.

  • Perform cleaning procedures in Independent Living, the Manor and the Health Center in accordance with facility policy.
  • Observe waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy.
  • Follow oral and written directions.\
  • Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness/functioning and request repairs as necessary.
  • Observe and report the need to repair any and all equipment, furniture, or fixtures to supervisor.
  • Report any observed area in poor repair to supervisor.
  • Perform floor care of carpet and tile floors, both in public areas and cleaning of resident carpet as needed/requested.
  • Collect soiled resident flat laundry and transport to Laundry Room. Return clean laundry to residents per policy.
  • Set up and tear down for special events, programs and activities, per work orders and as instructed by management.
  • Empty trash cans across campus, paying particular attention to Health Center resident care areas.
  • Clean resident laundry rooms across campus.
  • Sweep and mop stairwells.
  • Deliver packages, flowers etc. to residents.
